Come with a group of friends to make a hand built mug.
What this class look like:
The class will be about 1 to 1.5 hours long. All clay, glaze, and firing services are included. Skills you will learn: how to use the slab roller, prep the clay to use, follow a pattern, make a handle, and assemble the mug. You will get to choose from the current glazes I am using in the studio for the color of your mug.
How to book:
Tuesday evenings are my planned openings at this time for this type of class. At this time Saturdays, are full for events. Keep an eye out for Saturday bookings. They will be available once in a while, although very rare. I do not book more than two weeks in advance due to many changing schedules in the past. If you want to have more people join your class, book the event which is for four people. Let me know how many more people to expect. I have had up to ten people in a class at one time for this type of class.
Location: 38 Elevator Road, Whitemouth, MB
My space is located in a big brown shop. My brother has graciously given me space. It is a large open area. Be prepared, the guys might be working on the drill rigs or trucks so it may get noisy and smelly. It may be cold in winter and hot in summer. This is a work space, not a party space. (note: we are an hour east of Winnipeg.)
Notes: While working with clay on the wheel is FUN and messy, slab work is not as messy. I do still recommend that you come in work style clothing. We do have aprons, and if I forget to point them out, feel free to ask. Typically the clay doesn't stain clothes, but an apron is nice to help with the mess. As for rings and bracelets, although beautiful, you may want to remove them. Extras just get in the way of the clay. That goes for long and freshly manicured fingernails. Fingernails are best short. Plan your manicure for after the event if possible. I do take the time to let the pieces cure, but once in a while a piece doesn't turn out. This is an experience, not a guarantee that everything will turn out.
Pick up: The pieces will take a minimum of two weeks to complete. I will ship the pieces to one person in your group once all the pieces are ready.
Cancellation: There is a 80% refund on cancellations made 48 hours before the event. Any cancellations made after that there will not be a refund.
